Surfing poem

      Tauranga Bay

Sands soft, softer than seal pups,

Waves louder than thunder

Kahawai stream through the bay

Blue penguins glide through the water

like their opponents,

the Kahuna board riders,

surfing onto the rocks.

Stinky seals and cute pups

watching them in jealousy

On the lighthouse walk

an astrolabe gazes to the horizon

and the bay

watching for anything moving

protected in its see-through box

surfers skim waves

as white foam crashes crazily onto beaches.

Meanwhile I wonder if it's safe… ?

  1. HI Flynn, Molly here from Rm 7. I think that this is a very cool post. I like how you have put a simile in your poem. I also like how you have put in lots of creative words.
