Protecting the Maui Dolphins is Important?

Protecting the Maui dolphin is important?

Should Maui dolphins be protected? A majority of people say that the Maui dolphins should be protected and others say they shouldn't.

I think that the Maui dolphin should be protected because they are important to the world.

The Maui dolphin population is slowly decreasing because of pollution, there are only 55 left.

Chemicals and human waste which is some of the reasons for their deaths which is horrific!

We should act now to take humongous steps to stop them from becoming extinct.

The indigenous Maui dolphins are native to New Zealand. They are the tiniest and rarest of dolphins in

this big wide world and they are becoming extinct.

Maui dolphins are subspecies of the too similar Hector's dolphin.

Most of the sad deaths of Maui dolphins are caused by getting tangled in indiscriminate

fishing nets, and notorious shark species eating them.

Is it important that Maui dolphins should be protected?  Maui Dolphins only live on the West Coast of

the North Island in New Zealand. They are extremely rare because there are only 55 left in the entire world! The Department Of Conservation is working to stop the spectacular dolphins from becoming extinct by

making an area  where they swim boats are not allowed nets.

The Maui dolphins are very important to our fragile ecosystem.

They have a role to play like every other animal in our ecosystem. They feed on red cod, sole and āhuru.

You should know that just picking up your rubbish helps so much because dolphins can’t see the

difference between Plastic bags/bottles and fish so they eat them. If you ever find a Maui dolphin

stranded on a beach call the DOC Hotline 0800 362 468. The Maui dolphin is important!
